IBM ELM Consulting and Implementation

What we do

Alidade Technology helps engineering organizations plan, deploy and get lasting value from IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM). For more than 25 years we have worked only with IBM ELM, and our team includes former IBM and Rational professionals who know the tools from the inside.
Whether you are rolling out ELM for the first time, migrating from legacy tools or untangling an environment that has grown hard to manage, we bring the process knowledge and technical depth to get it right.

  • Assessment and roadmap: we review your tools, processes and pain points, then recommend an ELM architecture and a phased rollout plan.
  • Installation and configuration: on-premises or IBM ELM Cloud, including servers, databases, Jazz Team Server, LDAP or SSO, and project areas.
  • Process and template design: project templates, artifact types, attributes, link types and workflows built around how your teams actually work.
  • Global Configuration Management (GCM): streams, baselines and component strategies for product lines, variants and parallel releases.
  • Migration: moving requirements, tests and work items from DOORS Classic, spreadsheets, Word or other tools into ELM, with traceability preserved.
  • Integration: connecting ELM to tools such as Jira, Git, Jenkins and IBM Rhapsody, and setting up reporting with Jazz Reporting Service.
  • Upgrades: planned, tested upgrades to current ELM releases with minimal downtime.
  • Training and adoption: role-based training for users, project leads and administrators.

Products we implement

We implement the full IBM ELM suite, configured for regulated, safety-critical work. Our clients build aircraft, vehicles, medical devices and industrial equipment, and we set up ELM to support standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11, with traceability and audit trails designed in from day one.

  • IBM DOORS Next for requirements management
  • IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM) for test planning and execution
  • IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) for planning, change and source control
  • IBM Rhapsody for model-based systems engineering
  • IBM Global Configuration Management (GCM) for configuration across all of the above

How an engagement works

Every engagement follows the same five steps, scaled to the size of your rollout.

  1. Discover: workshops with your engineering, quality and IT teams to agree goals, scope and constraints.

  2. Design: an architecture, process model and templates you sign off before anything is built.

  3. Build and migrate: install, configure and move your data, with checkpoints along the way.

  4. Validate: testing and, for regulated industries, validation documentation.

  5. Go live and support: training, cut-over support, and the option of ongoing ELM Managed Services.
