IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM)
What ETM does
IBM Engineering Test Management, formerly Rational Quality Manager, is the test management tool in IBM ELM. It connects test plans, test cases and results directly to your requirements and defects, so you always know what has been tested, what passed, and what is still at risk. Alidade Technology helps you license, configure and adopt ETM across your quality and engineering teams.
- Test planning: test plans with objectives, scope, schedules, resources and risk assessment
- Requirement-driven testing: test cases linked to DOORS Next requirements, with coverage you can see at a glance
- Manual and automated execution: step-by-step manual scripts plus integration with automation tools and test labs
- Defect tracking: failed steps raise defects in IBM Engineering Workflow Management with full context
- Reviews and approvals: formal review workflows and electronic signatures for regulated teams
- Dashboards and reports: live status, coverage and quality metrics for project leads and auditors

How Alidade helps
As an IBM Business Partner and IBM ELM specialist, we support ETM from licensing through to ongoing support.
- Licensing: right-sized ETM licenses through IBM, on-premises or on IBM ELM Cloud.
- Implementation: project areas, test artifact templates, categories, attributes and execution workflows set up for your process.
- Traceability setup: links between requirements, tests and defects configured so coverage and impact reports work from day one.
- Automation integration: connecting ETM to your test automation and CI tools so results flow in automatically.
- Migration: moving test cases and history from spreadsheets, legacy tools or older Rational Quality Manager servers.
- Training: practical sessions for test managers, testers and administrators.
- Ongoing support through our ELM Managed Services.

Audit-ready test evidence
In regulated industries, test evidence is as important as the test itself. We configure ETM so that execution records, approvals and traceability reports support DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 62304 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 audits, including validation of the tool itself.
ETM is most powerful when connected to IBM DOORS Next for requirements and IBM Engineering Workflow Management for defects and change. Learn more about our ELM Consulting and Implementation services.
